I remember being a newly minted parent scouring for books for my child's library and being overwhelmed. It can be challenging. Find one you like and your child may not. I have pretty much resorted to reading books once to see if they are appropriate, and then test reading a few times with my 2 year old. Luckily, we have an amazing library system here in Orlando to do just that. Only when I am sure that a book is a keeper do I buy.
Below are a few that have really worked for us after reading hundreds. I didn't include some of the more popular titles, as those are already too easy to find in bookstores.
A. Catchy - I grouped here books that have smooth flowing rhymes, catchy sounds, or one-of-a-kind characters. These are books you'll probably be using your funny voices with.
B. Educational- Staples like alphabet and numbers, as well as those that give room to teach moral values and culture.
